Hello everyone,

I hope you are having a great time when reading this review. I am going to communicate a little unconventional today by really breaking down this review into highlights and low lights and why I place them in each category. I hope you enjoy the passage.

Highlights:

* Decor- an exemplary decor from the theater style curtains, to wall art, the exquisite bar which seats both inside and on the patio along with the unisex bathrooms which were exceptional.

* Service- two highlights were TheAnna who was whipping around the restaurant helping everyone with a great attitude and personality; a valuable team member for sure and then Jamison who was fantastic with his customer service and knowledge of the menu.

* Chips & Salsa- the chips were light, crunchy and flavorful with just enough salt and the salsas were fabulous and full of flavor.

* Tortilla Soup- the depth of flavor was stupendous and with the additions of shredded chicken and guacamole were well thought out touches to this traditional Latin soup.

* Chocolate Flan- full of chocolate flavor and the caramel broth-sauce and crunchy crumble were great combinations of flavors and textures.Ric & Beans- full of flavor; the rice was cooked perfect. It was light, fluffy and loose. Beans were mashed just enough but with some bits and pieces of bean still there for texture; perfection.

Low lights

* Taco- Chicken carbon taco was certainly a low for lunch. I felt there wasn't enough depth of flavor. It was missing something; either peppers i.e bell, jalapeno or something mild like an Anaheim or possibly a shredded cabbage; simply placing sauteed onions with chicken wasn't enough. I would expect much more from a Ford Fry establishment. A mex-tex restaurant cannot miss on Tacos.

* Wine- the wine was good and the list has great variety and a balance of prices but being a wine drinker and the respect I have for wine I was disappointed with the wine being served in a stemless oval shaped glass. The water in my opinion was being held in higher esteem by the glass it was served in. I understand the concept but don't serve wine in a short stubby glass just disrespectful.

* Service- as previously stated the service overall was great. There were just a few lulls that can easily be worked out by training i.e. serving all food together. I received my rice and beans a few minutes after the rest of my food. If you want to be considered top echelon this kink needs to be smoothed out but other than that the service was excellent. Finally the entrance from Krog St. Market is actually an exit. I think some signage should be there to inform guests; I stood there for about minute waiting.

* Synopsis- Overall for being only open for six weeks or so, the restaurant seems to be on it's way to being a winner with the community and yet another bullet in the belt of Ford Fry and his restaurant group; Bravo!

Lunch @ Chai Pani (Indian street food)

  • Published in News

As you walk into Chai Pani, you get a sense of being in India; the colorful walls with authentic Indian paintings and murals to the Indian music being played in the background. While continuing up the entrance way you find yourself at the cashier/order taker. A very pleasant young lady, who will take your order with pleasure and after telling her thank you she will say of course. All employees have learned this response of course. You say thank you to most employees in Chai Pani and they will reply of course; a nice way to interact with your guest base.
