Green Ginger (Decatur, Ga)

As soon as you enter the restaurant you are greeted by a hostess with a big smile, she asks politely "would you like to sit on the patio or inside." I chose to sit inside at a booth. There were a few customers sitting inside and on the patio. Upon sitting down, the table and surrounding area were clean and without any visible debris. The server came over with a glass of iced water and asked would I like anything else besides water. I wanted a glass of sparkling wine but unfortunately there was none to be had; a disappointment. I think sparkling wine is a great pairing with Thai food. Green Ginger you should strongly consider adding a couple of sparkling wines to your drink menu.Perusing the menu, there were a multitude of staple Thai items like your Kung Pao chicken and various curries. A nice addition to the menu would be the sushi menu which has a plethora of options with eel, various fish roe and tempura items. However, one housekeeping item would be the last page of the menu being sticky and not placed inside the menu holder. Now let's get to the food! My first course was the coconut soup which was garnished with mushrooms and sliced scallions. The soup was served piping hot with a dynamic creaminess and sweetness from the coconut; simply warmed the soul; a must have when dining here. For my second course, I decided on the crab raangone which was filled generously with crab, cream cheese and herbs and spices. I thoroughly enjoyed these little pouches of love. I would say the standard sauce could have been upgraded with something a little more creative and less standard Thai. Overall, a nice place to go for lunch by yourself, with a client, family or a hot date. I would just like to see an extension and little more creativity which can be achieved with such a dynamic cuisine.
